-newness of america- nyc streets

-columns of lexington

-historic enters of italy

-how that affects phone use

-increased usage when you are tourist/traveler

-comfort object (increased awareness of this)- safety

-photos mapping yelp

physicality of the culture

-hand use when talking on phone

-emotional/loud conversations

“protagonists” - self centered culture

-not as much spatial awareness or awareness of how you affect others

-loud conversations in public spaces, on trains, etc

-idea of etiquette at dinner table isn’t as important- using all the time

sitting culture

-lots of cafe sitting

-piazzas

-gardens/parks

-young people sitting in groups in these places- sharing whats on their phones -communal phones

free wifi (to promote tourism or use of historic areas)

-promotes phone use

-in comparison to southern america

time of day affects motion

-saturday and sunday lots of movement

-not early morning

-mid morning lots of activity

-slow in afternoons on breaks

physical constraints of the phone are the same- same types of phone use

-except bikes and vespas

implications in the workplace

the physicality of switching

-is the same
